i have become so invested in nmixx since debut… ive had faith in them since predebut and after the slight letdown that was O.O i found the fucking perfectest imperfect dynamics in a group ever. ITS BAD. i dont think ive ever been this invested in a group’s dynamics before but there is simply so much to talk about that i will die. and i COULD unleash all my tinhat onto twitter for exactly one (1) like. but why do that when i can write freaky shit with my freaky diagrams to share with all my gross friends <3

the instrumental is fine it's the complete switch up in the middle... imagine if they were separate songs. or if they put songs together with matching vibes
the next level switch up was at least similar sound/vibes... this is like Completely different songs that's the only thing that annoys me. on their own the parts are so good minus jinni's opening im sorry they made u rap baby <3
nmixx releasing a sticker type grower wasnt the Best decision without an established fanbase... the reason sticker worked is cause we weren't afraid of 30 more listens!
O.O is one of those growers. i needed a few listens to digest this song in full, even tho im used to noise music. more than one listen is guaranteed from me if it isn’t a slow song and if at least one part of it piques my interest. normal fans though… or whatever you can really call nmixx fans (Normal. huh). i doubt theyd give O.O more than a few listens unless they’ve already wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to nmixx like so many accounts out there do (what is with the race to be first btw. we hadnt even seen the members and there were a ton of JYPn accounts out there like why have you already decided to stan this group you set yourself up. also how do u know ur gonna fucking like them ANYWAYS). so this song isnt the best for attracting new fans.
TBH the reason sticker worked is because NCT has an established fanbase that’s used to this type of song. O.O is flopping because nobody knows what the NMIXX sound is like. maybe after this, releasing a grower/second mix-pop song will hit better now that they have an audience (tho . do they. do they really) who generally enjoyed O.O. BUT THE POINT REMAINS. don’t pull a stunt like this without solid guaranteed support. Sticker had guaranteed support and the shock factor, plus yknow. fans already liking that type of music.
i get that the predebut clips were supposed to build people’s faith in nmixx (i applaud jyp for doing that bc i very much enjoyed the covers AND i know this group is talented. WAY beyond what O.O presented to us) but i don’t think it was good enough preparation for the music.
A MINI RANT ON WHY THE FUCK THEY PICKED O.O AS THE TT OVER TANK
WHEN TANK IS INFINITELY BETTER AND OUTSLAYED IN EVERY WAY?? a majority of stan twitter did not take the freaky fishies well but the thing is (THE THING IS.) i know we all heard that incomingggg on the track… DEM JOINTZ WORKED ON THIS… that was my first thought when i heard it. so i didn’t exactly like the freaky fishies when i heard whatever was released before debut, but on my first listen of the full song that shit hit HARD.
its like even if the lyrics are awful KPOP STANS DGAF. we r already listening to korean words that we mostly do not understand… the beat went so hard that the lyrics didnt bother me as much as i expected them to. tank outperforms O.O in almost every way because the song is FUCKING COHESIVE, catchy, and. just. just good. also dem jointz <3 honestly makes me like the song more knowing demjointz worked on it.
im also wondering if JYP will do eras with NMIXX like they did with ITZY (based on the featured line in the second teaser, it was that member’s era), b/c i would assume this is kyujins. at the same time the mix pop sort of ruined the opportunity for eras b/c different people shine in both parts of the song… overall kyujin but by part: kyujin (first part), lily (beat switch up), kyujin (back to og song).
MEMBER THOUGHTS
so obviously they’re in a cravity type situation here (sorry i have to make that comparison btw its not my fucken fault) w one member being foreign and obviously the odd one out… and then the rest is like: popular clout influence boss members (in cravity it’s the members who were on produce and in x1, for nmixx it’s the dance line) and new members who are just there. and they’re mixing in OK but it’s debatable.
also nmixx's dynamix is super weird rn bc it seems like the maknaes are pulling more influence in the group? i think the dance line (kj, jn, jw) have the most clout, and then it's sullyoon, bae, and haewon in that order, then lily who has like 0 power in the hierarchy
generally agree with this ranking tho id switch bae and sullyoon simply bc bae has proved herself Big time. kind of sad that the leader doesnt have much power here despite being. the leader. YKNOW? and bae is much more leader like than her inlike.... so many ways. (minus haewon's mom tendencies.) AND jinni too, except jinni is part of the dance line and the dance line dgaf about the other members really. sullyoon pulls influence as a visual and nothing else (even tho she can SING and DANCE T_T). and rip lily i have so much to say on her but i will reserve that for her own section.

Dance line is all in pink (kyujin, jiwoo, jinni) where kyujin and jiwoo are the closest to each other. double lines going from kyujin to jinni and jiwoo to jinni as well, because theyre close, but not as close as kyujin/jiwoo. crappy solution was to add a dashed line from jinni to them to indicate that jinni likes them more than they like jinni. i think it's the fact that kyujin and jiwoo are dormmates that singles jinni out a bit. plus, jinni is the oldest between the three.

this girl is insane. first of all, in flo’s words… SHE IS THE INADVERTENT MAKNAE BOSS ive never heard better phrasing. pretty much all eyes are on her. jyp was probably debating whether to make kyujin the face of the group or jinni, and it looks like they went with kyujin?! it works bc kyujin has a pretty standout face (its the mouf guys ive been saying this) and is OUTSTANDING talent wise… shes suuuuuch a good dancer (see: jypn press cover) i want to see more from her. tho i think jinni is more it girl vibes. also sorry for saying her torso wasn’t fluid i lied she’s very flexible.
she said she joined the company in FIFTH GRADE (weekly idol) VIA AUDITION.. that’s fucking crazy and honestly makes me question whether She wanted that or if someone nudged her a bit to do it. she’s an Idol though. a performer. have u SEEN her stage presence and facial expressions btw...
her facial expressions are to die for… she’s so expressive with the music. you can tell she really enjoys it ^__^ she does do a lot of weird faces . like randomly in the middle of stuff she’ll just make an :0 face and im like ?!.. but that helps so much with dancing. she puts her groove and energy into the song. she’s fluid but not a fluidity based dancer… id say more power based, along w jinni and jiwoo. the dance line all having the same style works out well for them doing those trio dances. with itzy it’s like chaeryeong is fluidity/clarity based, yeji is power based, and ryujin is strength based so u have a noticeable enough difference between how they do moves
in terms of singing.. she’s ok. i can hear her singing from her throat in her my oh my cover on the high note, and in o.o she sort of shouts the note around 1:42. and in the live stages she's been going so hard with the dancing that her singing suffers (you can see her strain at 1:40 in [LIVE] NMIXX 엔믹스 'O.O' (오오) Showcase Stage 쇼케이스 무대 (릴리, 해원, 설윤, 지니, 배이, 지우, 규진)ㅣTongTongCulture bc she doesnt get enough breath to belt that high, nevermind not having ever belted on camera before. also i noticed she goes harder than the others on the dancing, like the hand wave at 1:05. why is no one else going hard? bc moving your torso hinders your singing ability. im pretty sure you have to tighten your core or some crazy shit like that in order to sing while dancing. since gg choreo requires a lot more torso movements OBVIOUSLY its gonna be harder for gg idols to sing live. btw itzy have pretty much mastered the art of moving your torso right and singing live, which is litcherally insane to me. anyways kyujin is sort of setting herself up there - whether she's purposefully putting effort into the dance or she simply does not know, idk. but i think kyujin is a good dancer and should, theoretically, know her body well enough to realize what she's doing. ANYWAYS.) i dont mind her rapping, kinda thankful she has notes in the song she can hit without straining tf out of herself, but tbh nmixx do not need to rap, like, at all. kyujin can either have less lines or lower lines since her lower notes sound pretty good in o.o (she doesnt really project unless she starts shouting so). and a much needed dance/break chorus she deserves that much!!! and NO I DID NOT FORGET SHE HAD COVID that could be messing with her as well. we will see... they need a FUCKING comeback i dont care if they debuted a week ago

THO IS SHE EVEN? not rlly leader vibes more like uptight XXXJ. i know J is good for planning and organization and various leader qualities etc etc but personally i think a XXXP type fits being a leader more. being flexible, able to improvise on certain things, is more important imo.
as a vocalist i LOVE HER1!!!!!!! SO MUCH. her voice is SO fucking well supported (see: survivor cover with lily) it is exactly everything she advertises it as. honey or jade or whatever. she has good technique and is a strong vocalist. for jyp thats crazy. TWO good vocalists in one group :0 color me shocked in twice we had jihyo and no one else in itzy we had an alto and no one else... jyp stepping up their game talent wise <3

for some reason i have my eyes on so many haewon pairings. so many meaning two, lily/haewon and haewon/jinni. haewon jinni bc haewon seems closer to her than i originally thought (sorry im not redoing the friendship circles diagram that was hell but we can safely conclude she and jinni arent strangers for sure). and haewon lily because they have a past in LA and did some (one) cover together AND released content together that i have yet to watch and form opinions on. so the pairing intrigues me bc the company is lowkey On it.

LILY IS SO INCH RESTING. she’s from australia, she’s trained the longest (7 years) at jyp but she’s also holding the least influence in the group and is SUCH a pick me girl around the members u would not believe. it’s crazy bc i would say she’s one of the most talented in the group plus extreme vocal slayage im talking top contenders in kpop of like all time or something (!!) so im like shouldnt u be the fucken boss of this thing. theoretically THESE GIRLS HAVE NOTHING ON U. but ITS NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL. the members will do anything and her confidence drops by 100009. she gets so easily nervous and overthinks everything, tries her best to impress the members even tho she literally doesnt need to bc SHES ALREADY SLAY and they dont even gaf this is so terrible
she really wants validation from her members which is so%^$%^ to watch because SHE IS TALENTED AND REALLY THEY SHOULD BE THE ONES WANTING HER VALIDATION. since she’s the foreign member (and this tends to happen w foreign members idk the kpop industry is fucking them up) they’re the odd ones out so they try their best to fit in with the group and seem the least foreign. lily rlly wants them to like her.. thats how i know theyre not very close. or at least, that clip (you know exactly which clip im talking about) was my first clue-in... everything else ive seen from her simply confirmed that thought.

not that i know much about tzuyu from twice but im citing flo’s comparison here because i do get those vibes from her. as The visual member of the group she does have that initial bit where the members r slightly intimidated by her... im sure they all swoon over her regularly lmao. her visuals take away from her talent tho. like i did not know she could sing (did not look up the color coded lyrics on O.O scuse me) until i watched the studio choom dance and realized she was singing… THIS GIRL CAN SING SO NICELY AND SOFTLY. she has this gracefulness to her and her voice compliments it so nicely. the vibe i get from her is like: SOFT. also loner, because i don’t see her being particularly close to anyone in the group. i also think her visuals are a barrier for that. even though everyone in this group is objectively pretty she just. she just outdoes them (objectively. subjectively i do not think sullyoon is the prettiest its actually between kyujin and jinni... totally my type <3).
i was going to talk about her stage presence. she either doesnt have much or she’s hiding it. jyp probably taught her that her face was enough, because when shes on screen, that’s what she shows. her face does most of it for her (same w xiaoting except xiaoting does add the Presence part to it. w sullyoon she goes on sings her line looks pretty and goes back to dancing).

she’s nowhere near the main star of O.O. i like her dancing enough, her voice is fine, pretty even, but her parts aren’t particularly memorable and this isn’t her era. she starts off the second, brighter part of the song, followed by sullyoon, but lily sort of steals the show (and rightfully so). also i think she has stage presence, but during her parts it fucking dies down. like i know you have it in there?! bring it out?!
her dynamix with the members was like. at first i thought she wasn’t super close with anyone with the exception of haewon, but now i can see. she’s close with the dance line, pretty close with haewon, and the rest are too loner for bae to go out there and get them just yet. come on moodmaker. she’s especially close with jiwoo, who REALLY likes her (that is the cutest contact name ^__^), and haewon, her cafeteria buddy. i think the dance line being so fucking close compared to the rest of the group combined with sullyoon + lily on their own pushed her to be next to haewon. so AS A RESULT... she and haewon are much closer. not the best pairing in this group but nice enough on camera. bae’s good on variety but on the behind she doesn’t exude moodmaker vibes. it’s partially Just for Show… kyujin is the real center of attention here.
